Slovakia’s Robert Fico has said The US allowing Ukraine to attack Russia isn’t helping,
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has strongly criticized the United States' reported decision to lift restrictions on Ukraine's use of long-range ATACMS missiles against targets deep within Russian territory. The New York Times reported on this development on Sunday, although the White House has not issued any official statements. Fico views the move as a "senseless" escalation of tensions that threatens Slovakia's national interests.Fico believes that this decision will negatively impact the policies of incoming US President Donald Trump and hinder peace talks. He also expressed surprise at the swift endorsement of this reported move by some EU member states, seeing it as evidence of the EU's inability to formulate independent foreign policy positions and the West's desire to perpetuate the conflict in Ukraine.
Slovakia, as a neighboring country to Ukraine, seeks a swift resolution to the conflict. Fico has instructed Slovak Defense Minister Robert Kalinak and Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar to oppose the US decision at every international platform.
